MarchDraftness (without the name) was thought up by 5 friends from Granite Bay California. It started out as a normal NCAA March Madness tournament challenge by everyone picking their bracket and then counting the wins. But that wasn't enough for this group of friends. They wanted something a little more exciting, a little more challenging and something that will truly demonstrate who the knows the most about college basketball in a given year.
In 2001 they decided to make a change. Instead of doing a traditional bracket, they changed format to drafting individual teams. Points were awarded based on the round of the win and if there was an upset. You must strike a delicate balance between picking teams who you think can win the entire tournament and teams you think might pull off that famous 12 v 5 upset.
